The first snow.

I have been away for three weeks in Milan visiting my son.  I just got back last night.  It snowed all across Europe last week.  The snow delayed my return.  I had to wait till the roads were clear enough to travel.  The day I left the sun came out for the first time in a week.  It was a beautiful sight to see the snow under the sparkling light of the sun.  The roads were clean but the snow-covered everything else.  The trees were white, the houses were white and the fields were white. It was really beautiful.

My son is having a difficult time in school this year.  There is so much to study.  Italian schools make our schools seem like kindergarten.  They require so much from the students.  I hope he will be able to adjust.  I found him a tutor to help him with his lessons.  I don’t know what else to do.  The math this year alone is more than I could manage. Besides math he has Latin, History, Mythology, Religion, Geography, English, Italian and Literature.

I returned home to a house that needs cleaning.  There is so much dust I don’t know where to start.  It’s cold here now so my work outside is finished till spring.  I will have plenty of time to clean house this winter.  Today is Thanksgiving.  I am not going to cook this year.  We have been invited by an American friend to her house tomorrow for dinner.  If she hadn’t called I would have forgotten about it.
